HAMLET

August 8 – 12, 2016

9 AM – 5 PM Daily

All the school’s a stage, and you can teach your students to be players. Learn to bring Shakespeare off the page and into the bodies and hearts of your students through this immersive approach to teaching Shakespeare. Our featured text is Hamlet, the first show of ASP’s 2016-2017 season. Explore this play of contested power, violence, and the search for meaning amidst mortality. Experience workshops in movement, voice, acting, directing, and text analysis, as well as seminar discussions relevant to Hamlet’s themes. We’ll pay particular attention to connecting our work to Common Core and MA State Standard requirements as needed. Come away re-energized, with new tools and activities for your classroom!

Led by: Brandeis Director of Theater Arts Adrianne Krstansky; ASP Resident Acting Company Member and Director of Education Mara Sidmore; curriculum specialist Lori Shaller; SSU Associate Professor of English and Shakespeare scholar Jeff Theis; and additional faculty of phenomenal area guest artists.

Cost: $875 (50 PDPs) $1,200 (Grad Credit); Limited scholarships available
