Throne Wars Richard III – Taught by Steven Barkhimer

OPEN TO ALL:  Lovers of history and/or literature, audience members, artists, and the generally curious!

February 26 –  7:00-9:00 pm

Taught by Steven Barkhimer, ASP Resident Acting Company member and Richard III in ASP winter production.

Missing Games of Thrones? Some would argue that Richard III is a story with an equal cult following potential. Join Steven Barkhimer in an exploratory class (think book club meets salon!) and take a deep dive into the history and controversy surrounding the enigmatic Richard III. Why has he inspired such interest as a historical figure and the title character in Shakespeare’s play? How was his cultural myth created and perpetuated, and what social and dramatic purpose does it serve? Explore these questions in a true “behind the scenes” tour of this timeless play and character through readings, film excerpts, conversation, and analysis of the play’s text itself.

Tuition: $40. To register, email lindsay (AT) actorsshakespeareproject.org
