ASP receives 6 Norton nominations!

The 2017 Elliot Norton Nominations have been announced! We are so excited and honored to have received SIX nominations for midsize theaters including:

  • Outstanding Production: Edward II
  • Outstanding Design: The School for Scandal
  • Outstanding Design: Edward II
  • Outstanding Actor: Maurice Emmanuel Parent (Edward II)
  • Outstanding Actress: Marianna Bassham (Hamlet)
  • Outstanding Director: David R. Gammons (Edward II)

As noted in The Boston Globe, the 35th annual Elliot Norton Awards, hosted by the Boston Theater Critics Association, will be “held May 15 at the Huntington’s BU Theatre, with Tony- and Emmy-winning actress Cherry Jones as the guest of honor and American Repertory Theater artistic director Diane Paulus as this year’s recipient of the Elliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence. The awards are named for the longtime Boston theater critic, who died in 2003 at the age of 100. The Boston Theater Critics Association has chosen ‘Alternative Acts’ as the theme of this year’s event, in deference to the current political climate, and a portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the Boston Arts Academy.” (The BAA is one of ASP’s education partners throughout the season!)

Congratulations to all from these nominated productions, and to our friends and colleagues of the other plays at other companies also nominated!
