Special Announcement

It is with mixed and tender feelings that I let you know here that at the end of the year I will be stepping aside as Artistic Director of this extraordinary collective of artists, staff, and Board members that make up Actors’ Shakespeare Project.

ASP is in a great place, and I’ve found the support I’ve gotten here in the work and conversations to be deeply nourishing. I am very excited and humbled to announce that I’ve been asked to take the helm as Artistic Director of Shakespeare & Company, starting in January. This is an enormous privilege for me and one that I take to heart.

Shakespeare & Company has long been an artistic proving ground for me and others, and I’m thrilled for the opportunity to jump back into the fold and dig in. As two significant Shakespeare companies on either end of the state devoted to discovering truths about humanity through Shakespeare’s words, I know we’ll be looking for more opportunities to collaborate in ways that will serve to strengthen our audiences’ and stakeholders appreciation of the power of language.

As for the transition, our Board Chair, David Sandberg, along with Kimberly Dawson, our Executive Producer; Mara Sidmore, our Director of Education Programs, Projects & Partnerships; and other members of the Company will shortly begin the diligent work of finding a new Artistic Director. I look forward to being around for the remainder of the year and I will be directing ASP’s The Tempest in November.

I wish I had the words to express my gratitude for all of you who have shown an abiding interest in the conversations we engage in here at Actors’ Shakespeare Project both onstage and off.
